Travelling With ZARA

A couple of things this week have reminded me of last Summer when I went travelling around parts of South East Asia. Tasting Vita Coco for the first time (as mentioned on my twitter page) being one of them - nice as the drink was, there is no comparison with the real deal on the real deal - coconut water on a nice sandy beach - sun & heat present.

Then yesterday I spotted the ZARA lookbook for April; unsurprisingly after a very Eastern influenced SS13 some of the looks had an oriental feel about them, which further heightened my longing for . . . last Summer's holiday, one that I am only appreciating now - typical.

A little bit of Heaven . . .

If I had to pick one brand I could only wear for one year, I would definitely choose ZARA. I should be so lucky! From basics to their more extravagant and embellished pieces, they really do cater for what I want the inside of my wardrobe to look like.

From their April lookbook, I have my eye on a few items, including that oriental print shirt and red jumpsuit - both above. There is something so appealing about roomy and loose fitting clothing with oversized sleeves and the deep pockets in the jumpsuit are an added bonus - perfect for that humid Thai weather.

Talking of which, I also have my eye on flights to that part of the World again . . .

I have a feeling that travelling to ZARA instead of travelling with ZARA will be the more viable, if slightly less exotic option this year. However, judging by their current collection, maybe a shopping trip would be exotic enough!

Are you longing for something - anything, which seems so close, yet so far away at the same time?

(Not So) Mellow Yellow

Nothing says Spring more than bright yellow Daffodils. Yellow - apparently one of this Season's major  colours. Yellow for this Season only? Yellow forever!

Who Wears Yellow:

Buy Yellow:
So, if you are into (not so) mellow Yellow - get clicking.
If I could make one recommendation; buy mint Carmex - your lips will feel tingly, tasty and fresh!

TOP LEFT - RIGHT: PRIMARK yellow neon spike necklace (in stores) - ZARA multicoloured printed scarfIf you like studs, go for this yellow leather gilet from RIVER ISLAND Big Yellow Taxi nail polish by CIATÉ
Classic yellow VANS.

If money was no object, I would go for the Simone Rocha dress and that Joanne Hynes collar. As it is, I'll probably just use my mint Carmex as a yellow accessory - for the time being, of course - until I win the lotto...

Tell me, what do you think about the colour yellow?

Trousers Of The Month

Hi There!

It may be freezing out and dare I say it, snowing in some parts of the World, but Floral trousers (and the rest) are always welcome. What do you think?

Fringed Fancies

I always have a million things on my 'I want' list. A knee-high fringed boot is my brand new entry.
I always love a bit of fringe. And you?

  1. Boots on the left from Zara. Well done Zara, you designed my favourite.
  2. Boots on the top right hand-side from Isabel Marant. Three words. One action that would land you in jail. Rob-A-Bank.
  3. Boots on the bottom right hand side from River Island. Beige Zebra boots, as I like to call them.

The Battle of Leather

Give you a hint about my maybe-next-hopefully big purchase? Without further ado, look below. Hello leather!

What wins it for you: the beautiful shearling collared Acne jacket or the equally beautiful, but shearling-less Zara jacket. Just supporting the economy, as usual!

The Rain Is A Pain.

When it rains, I go insane.
Especially since it's 'Summer'. Why, oh why am I not in Spain?

I may have a room with a view.
But sometimes, that's just no good.

When I wake up full of brightness, I expect to see a sun in the sky.
Then I see rain, just out of spitefulness.

'What to wear today', I often ask myself.
Short skirt, bare legs? Maybe someday, but not today.

Sweaters, some might say.
Zara do them. Zara is from Spain.

With a bit of Spain,
I will no longer feel the pain
that is caused by the dreaded rain.

Amen to that.

Zara Loves Colour. So Do I.

Oh. Hello there!

Out of all the Spring-Summer trends that are knocking around at the moment, the colour block trend is the one I am really loving. Which high street store blocks those colours the best? Zara. Bright pink, royal blue? Yes, please!

I was gallivanting in Spain last week and Zara was my first pit shop. I couldn't resist. I mean, it would be such a sartorial shame not to visit Zara whilst being a tourist in the country that founded such a fantastic store, right? Just supporting the Spanish economy.

Colour & Stripes & Taylor

Three looks I love this week:

Ashley Olsen looking chic in stripes and a red suit.
Taylor Tomasi-Hill. Does the Marie Claire Accessories Style & Accessories Director ever get it wrong? Love that skirt.
Zara Lookbook April 2011. Zara is the shop full of colour at the moment. Love their spring/summer colour collection, especially their jeans and trousers. Orange, Indigo, Pink...

What are you loving this week?

Oh, and who will be watching the Royal wedding tomorrow morning? I will be glued to the TV screen.

Hats Today

Six good reasons to wear a Floppy/ Wide-brimmed/ Safari hat this Spring-Summer:

1. They are easy to wear. Nothing like a bit of comfort on your head.
2. Just in case you forget to put on SPF (Not recommended. It happens, though), these hats will protect you from those vicious rays.
3. If you want to avoid some-one, just lower the hat over your face. 'Hey, is that Sarah?' ''Hmmm, it is hard to know, what with not being able to see her face. Better not disturb hat face, so.'' Mission accomplished!
4. They are also good if you want to attract some-one's attention. I'll be the girl with the Zara two-toned hat on my head. You won't miss me.
5. Buy a floppy hat and you will 'definitely' look like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Terms and Conditions apply.
6. They are always chic. Do you need anymore convincing?

A Winter Wonderland

Is there anything nicer than waking up in the morning, to see snow outside? For me, there is not! I thought that my Parka and Over-the-Knee boots would keep the Winter chill away. They sort of failed, but (along with the snow), is there anything nicer than a fur rimmed hood and tasseled boots? Whilst checking the snow out, of course! Perhaps, it would have been wise to wear some gloves...

Around the World in six days...

The things that stood out for me this week in the World of Fashion...

1. Fashion shows are always so inspiring, but when you put graduate into the mix the clothes are raw and just amazing. It is one of the week's for graduate fashion shows and here are a few of my favourites.

Anna Lee, De Montford University

Kitty Keay, Colchester School of Art

Phoebe Thirwall, Nottingham Trent University

Vilvin Sabu, London College of Fashion

Isabel Czernin Fishlock, Central St. Martins

Phillip Patterson, Central St. Martins

Eloise Jephson, Central St. Martins

I really love all of these!

2. The Red Carpet was full of black this week, so I applaud SJP in Vivienne Westwood at the Japanese premiere of Sex and The City 2, Zoe Saldana in MaxMara and Rachel Bilson in Peter Som. They are troopers!

3. Vivienne Westwood not only designs fantastic clothes, but now she has designed tablecloths. At £1,ooo a pop, they are expensive, but all the money goes to eco Charity Cool Earth. I would love one of these looking up at me, when I eat my branflakes in the morning!

4. The June 2010 lookbook for Zara epitomizes how I like to dress in the summer...casual, chic and a little bit edgy. I was just a little excited when I saw it.
