(Not So) Mellow Yellow

Nothing says Spring more than bright yellow Daffodils. Yellow - apparently one of this Season's major  colours. Yellow for this Season only? Yellow forever!

Who Wears Yellow:

Buy Yellow:
So, if you are into (not so) mellow Yellow - get clicking.
If I could make one recommendation; buy mint Carmex - your lips will feel tingly, tasty and fresh!

TOP LEFT - RIGHT: PRIMARK yellow neon spike necklace (in stores) - ZARA multicoloured printed scarfIf you like studs, go for this yellow leather gilet from RIVER ISLAND Big Yellow Taxi nail polish by CIATÉ
Classic yellow VANS.

If money was no object, I would go for the Simone Rocha dress and that Joanne Hynes collar. As it is, I'll probably just use my mint Carmex as a yellow accessory - for the time being, of course - until I win the lotto...

Tell me, what do you think about the colour yellow?

Minimal Wrists

In my previous post I stated the fact that making a bold statement with fashion is always nice, which is true. I then went on to showcase some of Lanvin's AW13 amazingly bold, fabulously in-your-face jewellery. I am a big lover of 'mad' necklaces, as my mother likes to call them, for example Bug Bling. I would wear Bug Bling any time, any day.

GUESS watch, Alex and Ani bangle, bracelet from Lanzarote.

For my arms, however, I like more minimal jewellery, as opposed to big statement pieces. I love the idea of having loads of bracelets, bangles and jangly items stacked on, but it is just not me and I genuinely wouldn't have the patience to stack every single day. When I remember to adorn my wrists, albeit very minimally; the two bracelets above do the job - for the time being.

It would be nice to expand this very minimalistic jewellery range, though. Maybe include a bit of colour, a bit of bling - let's go completely wild! Here are my favourites, including BijouxBar's aquamarine bracelet especially designed for Boticca.com for International Women's Day to raise money for the WIW organisation. A good cause and you can check it out here.

How about you, are you in to the whole 'arm party' phenomenon, or do you prefer a more minimalistic approach?

A 'Try Hard' In Camouflage

I can often get so sucked in to owning a 'must-have' that I can be labelled a 'try hard'. I remember at the age of 13, for Christmas, I wanted so badly a pair of Sketcher shoes and a Reebok tracksuit. Santa came, delivered and went; his sleigh lighter from baby pink apparel and sparkly footwear, as he made his way towards the West. The delight, the joy, the beginning of my 'try hard' era, which as you read on, has yet to come to an end. Just imagine my all pink ensemble complete with frizzy hair-I thought I was amazing.

Of course, looking back, I can now see that my baby pink fashion outfit was more 'what were you thinking', rather than 'wow, pretty in pink'. That's what growing up is all about, though. Finding your way. Figuring it all out. Not just with fashion, but life in general, too. I found myself in River Island one day where I spotted a pair of trousers-camouflage trousers. I knew immediately that I had to have them. So I got them. Easy.

On the second outing of wearing these trousers, I found myself on a train. With no room to sit down, I kept my head directed towards the floor and counted the stops until I was out. I spotted another pair of camouflage legs. There is something about camouflage that you can spot instantly amongst colour, and the dreary interior of a commuter train. These trousers were paired with woolly socks and hardened leather boots, as opposed to my studded flats and no socks. An army guy. I raised my head. He was looking at my camouflage trousers in wonder. Suddenly, my I-have-to-have-them-now camouflage trousers seemed wimpy and worse, they reeked of being a 'try hard'. There, only a few feet away was a guy who (I presume) works his camouflage clothed butt to the extreme for a living. And, I? I also work my camouflage clothed derrière to the extreme-all for fashion. Check(camouflage)mate.

Try hard? Yes, probably. I still love my camouflage trousers, though. My figuring it all out journey will also continue. So, who else is a 'try hard'?

Tart-Tartan

I love tartan and you?

Tartan featured in my favourite Irish magazine, Stellar.

My birthday is coming up soon. To me, from me. Always the best way to do things!

I love these Topshop slipper shoes, how can you go wrong with tartan & studs? Oh, and this slipper shoe range from Topshop is very comfortable. I have two pairs already, see picture above this one. A third, tartan pair next?

TV presenter, journalist and super stylist & stylish, Angela Scanlon wearing tartan.

Pick 'n' Tartan Mix. I want that Burberry blush!

I just love this collection, it's probably one of my favourites from S/S 2013. Grungy, yet still feminine. I love the different use of textures in the third outfit.

Mugshot. Wearing a Penneys/Primark plaid shirt from the men's section. I like an oversized shirt.

Hairband from Accessorize.

No Doubt love tartan.

Sequin Delight? Too Right!

*It is like that sequined jacket you spotted, say in Primark or Forever 21. You know you shouldn't. You know you should be saving your money for that timeless piece, but alas, the sequined jacket has powers of persuasion. *Buy me and you'll look beautiful and bright. You know, you just know, I am so right.* Taken word for word from my BlueGreen post.*

Turns out, I couldn't resist it. It may not be from Primark or Forever 21, not brash, but it is still just right. Sequins for Christmas? Sequins forever!

Fringed Fancies

I always have a million things on my 'I want' list. A knee-high fringed boot is my brand new entry.
I always love a bit of fringe. And you?

  1. Boots on the left from Zara. Well done Zara, you designed my favourite.
  2. Boots on the top right hand-side from Isabel Marant. Three words. One action that would land you in jail. Rob-A-Bank.
  3. Boots on the bottom right hand side from River Island. Beige Zebra boots, as I like to call them.

Just Dance

What do I want to wear and do now? Throw on a pair of Palazzo trousers and go dancing! The ditsier the print, the better, I say. 'Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin alive, stayin alive.' Palazzo trousers and The Bee Gees? Sure, why not!

Note to self: Need to buy a pair of Palazzo's in case of a need to dance emergency.

L-R: Palazzo Trousers from River Island and Topshop

Hope every one is having a great weekend. Make it a fashionable one. Well, a semi fashionable one!

P.S. The trousers I am wearing in the picture above are from Topshop. Made my thighs look horrid. Great for dancing, though!

Lots Of Stuff

On the 'hello' why aren't you in my wardrobe, as opposed to being in some random warehouse list. Topshop wide legged printed trousers. Where are you? YSL 70's inspired block sandals. Be mine! YSL multi-coloured crystal ring. You should be blinging on my finger. Bright, patterned River Island scarf. Hello, you.

OPI 'Not like the Movies'. My life is definitely not like a movie, 'cause that polish would be delivered by a handsome gent in a suit. Spiffy! Jeepers Peepers sunglasses. You should be covering my peepers. A girls wardrobe is not complete without an item or two from Topshop. May I ask why that dusky pink leather jacket is gathering dust in some random warehouse and not my wardrobe? Blind Man's Bluff, Lots of Stuff, I need that ASOS Cuff.

Buckle Up

I am very conscious of the amount of money I now spend in River Island. But, I just cannot help myself. Their clothes have really improved in terms of quality and design. And it is always their shoe section that hypnotises me when I first walk in to the store. These black buckled ankle boots are currently on my 'Will I buy, or will I just be thrifty and save the money list.' I am not really a thrifty kind of gal, so I feel that the next time I walk into River Island, I will walk out with these boots. A girl can never have too many boots, especially of the buckle variety! Hmmmm,.......

What do you think: To buy or not to buy? Not that I need any encouragement!

Anyone Say Bum-Bag?

I got this Chesneau purse/ small bag from my Dad about five years ago for Christmas. To my shame, despite having it for so long, the tags were still waiting to be cut off. I am not a small bag kind of gal. I like a big, roomy bag, despite the effort of trying to find all my items, which magically disappear in said bag. But this beautifully crafted leather good was crying to be taken out of the house.

'First, I need to add something extra to you, Chesneau.' (A bit weird to be talking to a bag-not even a bag-a purse, yes?) So, I strolled in to River Island, confident in the knowledge that I would find something fabulous for this purse.......

....That something fabulous happened to be this scarf. At the back of the purse, you can attach a scarf/ strap and I took full advantage of this added feature.

Some might wonder what I might do with this...? Bum-bag, anyone? A very elegant bum-bag at that. They have been making a comeback after all! What do you think-would you wear this as a bum-bag? Be honest!
