Mam, will you tell them to stop copying me?

I don't know about you, but when I was younger if my sisters copied me in any sort of way, I would go crazy. To elaborate...if they dressed like me, or had clothes similar to mine, or if they started mimicking my voice....genuinely, I used to get so mad. Were you like that?

I think I am sort of over it (but, not really!). Anyways enough of my random-ness.

When I looked through the Preen Resort 2011 collection the other day, I didn't think anything of it, other than it is a minimal and well structured collection. However, browsing through the ASOS website this morning, I noticed something. Because the Preen collection is fairly minimal (actually very), there are bound to be some decent copies. I found...well I think I found (I'll let you be the judge of that) some pieces which match the Preen collection in some way.

So, Preen on a budget?! Sure, why not! (Well in my current non-working position, some of the ASOS stuff is looking pricey!).

Preen vs French Connection sold on ASOS.com at £75.

Preen vs ASOS at £55.

Preen vs Reiss shorts sold on ASOS.com at £89.

Preen vs Firetrap sold by ASOS.com at £75.

Preen vs Selected Femme Trousers at £135. Sold on ASOS.com

Preen vs Selected Femme lace cami at £80. Sold on ASOS.com

Now, I'm not saying they are carbon copies, but they are similar. What do you think?

Oh ya, just want to say I have been blogging for around a month now, and I want to thank everyone for all their comments and for following. I really, really appreciate it! Okay, enough of the cheese factor.

Please, give me something decent to wear.

When someone says uniform to me, I automatically think of all the horrible uniform's I have had to wear over the years...

1. Fourteen years of wearing a school uniform. Grey skirt (below the knee, was De Rigeur in my Catholic school), red jumper (scratchy as hell), white shirt and red tie (the tie is done up properly of course). Stud earrings allowed only, no tattoos, no crazy hair styles, no make-up....basically nothing. Oppressive much?!

2. My first proper job...housekeeping. Baggy tracksuit pants, maroon coloured t-shirt (puke) and runners. Comfort is the key when you have to clean 10 houses in 7 hours, and with my supervisor looking over my shoulder screaming 'HURRY UP!' and 'You missed a bit' or 'Sarah, I can't see my face in the bath-tub, put some elbow grease into it'. Fun times!

3. I them moved into the sophisticated World of being a Sales Assistant...in a garden centre. Hmmmm.... Black combat trousers (of the Unisex variety), bright, really bright green t-shirt with an orange collar accompanied with a bright, really bright green jumper. I don't know if that uniform will haunt me forever or...

Me: 'That's €20, do you have a Homebase Card?' (Bright, cheerful voice with a big smile)
Customer: NO! (Semi-interested, but not really)
Me: 'You don't? Would you like to sign up for one?' (Hopeful...have to get 20 people to sign up for this card today)
Customer: NO! Please, can I have my purchases.' (Fully Annoyed)
Me: Ok, thanks anyway. Bye...have a good day! (Dejected, half-hearted smile)

4. On to bigger and brighter things from there...into the World of fine-dining aka, waitressing. Black, unflattering, below the knee skirt? Check. White starched shirt? Check. Black tie? Check. Black waistcoat? Check. Clear tights? Check. Black flat shoes? Check. Hair tied back? Check. No Jewellery? Check. Too awful for words.

But, the staff of nightclub Bungalow 8 don't have to worry about humiliating uniforms. Oh, no! Whilst nearly all my previous jobs forced me to wear the least flattering clothes in the World, the people of Bungalow 8 will be decked out in Preen, no less.

Beautiful Preen. Very lucky them. They will be cocktail dress based. One in lace, the other in something even more beautiful. Sob! Imagine turning up for work in these...

So, my main aim of this Summer is to try and get a job in Bungalow 8.

Any uniform horror stories? Or have I just had the misfortune to wear some really awful ones?!

From one extreme to another...

I was going to get up super early this morning to have a look at the red-carpet from the MTV Movie Awards, but the heavy rain lulled me back to sleep. Its okay though, because it is a bank holiday Monday. Wooo...so no work, school, college etc. Not that I have any of those. But I have to take part in the festivities of a Bank Holiday and do absolutely nothing. And I actually appreciate the rain today because it entices me to do nothing. But I expect it to be sunny tomorrow (of course). And knowing the Irish weather it probably will be.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, seems as it is past lunchtime (way past lunchtime, nearly dinner!) when I first saw the pictures of the MTV movie awards red carpet, I kind of guessed that everyone has seen them. But, I can't help showing my favourites of the night.

As you all probably know, Jessica Biel doesn't always get it right on the Red Carpet, but she wowed in Giambattista Valli. Whenever I see Jessica Biel, I always think back to 7th Heaven...remember that preachy type show she was in, with all those children? I still remember the way they talked drove me mad, but I was kinda obsessed with it. Do you remember it?

Scarlett Johansson in green Dolce & Gabbana. Jealous much? Its okay though my 'green' eyed monster tendency when it comes to dresses is all part of my Zodiac sign-Scorpio. It is a simple dress, that fits her really well. Is it just me, or is Scarlett just a little scrawny looking at the moment? So too is Eva Mendes, who looked really skinny on the Red Carpet last night.

I have to admit, I have never actually seen Anna Kendrick in a film. I know she is in that film with George Clooney..something about planes. Sorry I'm useless and this just shows my ignorance. Does anyone know what the film is called? Anyways, she looked beautiful in this Zac Posen dress.

God help me for saying this, but Katy Perry makes me so mad sometimes. Whilst everyone I know loves the first song she released, I can't bare it. If I hear the song on the radio, I flick it, faster than you could say Katy Perry. That time she wore that 'glowing' Cute Circuit dress to the Met Ball, I was stunned (bad stunned). She just does things which irritate me...and I don't even know the girl personally.

But, do you know what? I actually like this Zuhair Murad dress on her. Don't mind the hair (cause that is sort of hideous). The MTV Movie Awards are supposed to be fun, this is fun. I am a sequin girl, this is a sequin dress, need I say anymore. What do you think of it? Try and imagine her without the blue hair, because that just puts you off straight away.

Seeing lace on Scarlett Johansson only reinforces my love of lace. It is such a delicate fabric. I had a sneaky peak on Net-A-Porter, whereby I saw this Preen beauty.

I would wear this to the MTV Movie Awards, if I was an actor/ celebrity/ socialite... but I'm not any of those. But a girl can dream to wear a dress like this.

Lace in my wardrobe is few and far between, but I have a few little bits. There is no comparison between lace on a designer item to lace on a high street item...but I am not in a situation to be buying designer lace, so I settle for high street lace.

The khaki green, part lace top was an Oasis buy and the nude, peachy lace top is from River Island. Note the horrible, grey rainy sky behind the two tops.

I bought this in Mango around a year and a half ago. My waist is NOT this small, I folded it over. This is the extent of my photographic abilities!

So, that is it. No word of a lie this post took me two and a half hours to do. I am on such a go-slow today! What do you think of my favourite looks at the Movie Awards? And is lace a sure thing for you?
