Lace Describes Me

Well hello there!

I don't know if any of you read Reese Witherspoon's interview in the May edition of ELLE UK? No, yes? Well, this is what jumped out at me: "I would probably summarise my whole personality by saying I'm very... cardigan." What comes to your mind when you think of cardigans? I think cardigans are comforting, soft & welcoming. Reese described herself very well, because that is what I feel her personality is like.

I have another question for you: What material do you feel best describes you? I'll go first. Lace. Yes. I feel lace describes my personality best. Why? Here are five reasons:

1. Lace has its diva moments. So do I.
2. Lace can be delicate & fussy. It needs to be handled with care, but it can be quite resilient. I can be quite fussy. Sometimes I need to be handled with care. I can be resilient. Sometimes.
3. Lace may appear stuffy, but it can have just a good time as outgoing leather and care free jersey. I can party as hard as the best of them. Life's too short not to.
4. Sometimes lace can be shy. Case in point: undergarments. I can be shy. I like my own space too.
5. Lace can be racy, elegant and chic. Sometimes, I wish I was all three.

So, now it is your turn......what material best describes you. Whether you are leather, velvet, silk, jersey etc, you choose and let me know!

P.S. It appears I am back after a bit of a break. What caused this break? Mid month blogger creative block crisis? Too much technology for one head to bear? Lack of motivation? Truthfully, all three. But I am back with all (hopefully) my creativeness supporting me this time.

Spring Clothes

I'm in the midst of a wardrobe Spring clean. It has become clear as a nice fresh day that I am a hoarder. I keep everything, including dust. Clothes are still accessorized with their tags. Like many people, I hoard old issues of magazines. That's not hoarding, though, it can be called archiving too. A lot of clothes are after getting the boot. No more shopping for me. Not for a long time.

Instead, I am concentrating on the items that I cherish. I will not be known as the old woman who lived in a shoe. I will be the old women wearing faux fur, accessorized with tulle, anklet bracelets, denim shirts, lace skirts, cowboy hats. All whilst reading old issues of Vogue and Elle. The old woman living in a lot of junk. Sounds about right to me.

P.S. Current obsession: denim+lace. What's yours?

If you hoard/archive magazines like me, where do you keep them? I am curious to know. Half my wardrobe space is dedicated to them!

From one extreme to another...

I was going to get up super early this morning to have a look at the red-carpet from the MTV Movie Awards, but the heavy rain lulled me back to sleep. Its okay though, because it is a bank holiday Monday. Wooo...so no work, school, college etc. Not that I have any of those. But I have to take part in the festivities of a Bank Holiday and do absolutely nothing. And I actually appreciate the rain today because it entices me to do nothing. But I expect it to be sunny tomorrow (of course). And knowing the Irish weather it probably will be.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, seems as it is past lunchtime (way past lunchtime, nearly dinner!) when I first saw the pictures of the MTV movie awards red carpet, I kind of guessed that everyone has seen them. But, I can't help showing my favourites of the night.

As you all probably know, Jessica Biel doesn't always get it right on the Red Carpet, but she wowed in Giambattista Valli. Whenever I see Jessica Biel, I always think back to 7th Heaven...remember that preachy type show she was in, with all those children? I still remember the way they talked drove me mad, but I was kinda obsessed with it. Do you remember it?

Scarlett Johansson in green Dolce & Gabbana. Jealous much? Its okay though my 'green' eyed monster tendency when it comes to dresses is all part of my Zodiac sign-Scorpio. It is a simple dress, that fits her really well. Is it just me, or is Scarlett just a little scrawny looking at the moment? So too is Eva Mendes, who looked really skinny on the Red Carpet last night.

I have to admit, I have never actually seen Anna Kendrick in a film. I know she is in that film with George Clooney..something about planes. Sorry I'm useless and this just shows my ignorance. Does anyone know what the film is called? Anyways, she looked beautiful in this Zac Posen dress.

God help me for saying this, but Katy Perry makes me so mad sometimes. Whilst everyone I know loves the first song she released, I can't bare it. If I hear the song on the radio, I flick it, faster than you could say Katy Perry. That time she wore that 'glowing' Cute Circuit dress to the Met Ball, I was stunned (bad stunned). She just does things which irritate me...and I don't even know the girl personally.

But, do you know what? I actually like this Zuhair Murad dress on her. Don't mind the hair (cause that is sort of hideous). The MTV Movie Awards are supposed to be fun, this is fun. I am a sequin girl, this is a sequin dress, need I say anymore. What do you think of it? Try and imagine her without the blue hair, because that just puts you off straight away.

Seeing lace on Scarlett Johansson only reinforces my love of lace. It is such a delicate fabric. I had a sneaky peak on Net-A-Porter, whereby I saw this Preen beauty.

I would wear this to the MTV Movie Awards, if I was an actor/ celebrity/ socialite... but I'm not any of those. But a girl can dream to wear a dress like this.

Lace in my wardrobe is few and far between, but I have a few little bits. There is no comparison between lace on a designer item to lace on a high street item...but I am not in a situation to be buying designer lace, so I settle for high street lace.

The khaki green, part lace top was an Oasis buy and the nude, peachy lace top is from River Island. Note the horrible, grey rainy sky behind the two tops.

I bought this in Mango around a year and a half ago. My waist is NOT this small, I folded it over. This is the extent of my photographic abilities!

So, that is it. No word of a lie this post took me two and a half hours to do. I am on such a go-slow today! What do you think of my favourite looks at the Movie Awards? And is lace a sure thing for you?
