Fancy, Fancy

I am going to a work ball next week (sounds fancy, will probably be the opposite) and I don't know what to wear. How amazing would it be if I turned up in one of these three beauties? Pretty amazing, I say!

However, this Marie Claire (Turkey, January 2011) editorial featuring Kira Mazura has inspired me that a long dress is a must at next weeks ball. I haven't worn a long dress in quite some time, so it will be a welcoming treat.

Any fancy nights out coming up for you? Apart from NYE, of course! Do you love these formal gowns as much as I do?

P.S. I just adore Kira M's wild hair. I would like to sport a similar do!

The Sparkle Will Linger On

Now, this is what I call Bling! Bling in a sophisticated way. You chose well, Santa. Very well!

Around this time of year, I get anxious and irritated easily. Maybe, it is due to the fact that a New Year is looming and I assess (mentally) my year. I always feel as if I spent the year doing diddly squat (as in, nothing!). However, I achieved a few things that I am proud of:

1. Completing my Degree
2. Setting up this Blog

Hopefully, this bit of Bling will guide me through 2011. Bring it on, I say! Lets make it a fashionable one.

Did you get any surprise presents this year? Let me know!

On a final note- I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas?! I know, I certainly did! I ate and drank enough, anyway. Now, I just have to start my exercise regime (cough, cough-do you sense my sarcasm?).

P-O-P

As much as I love this time of the year, I fear all this Christmas Spirit (or maybe it's just the mulled wine) has affected my brain, somewhat. I am making silly mistakes, that I know I wouldn't make in the Spring (I probably would make the same mistakes, but it's always reassuring to blame something, yes?). Therefore, when I saw Karen Elson with her bouncy hair on the cover of Vogue Nippon (February 2011), I knew, I had to post it.

Pure Pop-screams the cover! Pure Pop, it sure is. Draped in colourful Prada (Spring 2011), this Vogue Nippon cover clears some of the Christmas-sy fog which is currently lingering inside my head.

Of course, I then had to skip over to Style.com and reacquaint myself with the Prada Spring 2011 collection. Big, bold & beautiful. The fog is clearing minute by minute! Prada, Spring 2011? Yes, please!

Do you like the colourful cover, as much as I do? And are you also suffering from Christmas brain?

Scrooge, I am not

'Why do girls wear high heels?' This question was thrown at me by an unsuspecting boy on Saturday night. 'Because they look good, I replied.' These clog boots are quite fashionable, but wow, do they hurt! Quite. A. Lot. I thought Party Feet might ease the pain, haha, that's just how deluded I am. But hey, at least they look good, right?

It is the season to be jolly, but Christmas can get quite hectic. However, if you want to be more festive and fashionable, just throw on a slinky red dress, grab a glass of whatever tickles your fancy and sit back & relax in a giant martini glass. Mrs. Reindeer below is a good example of being very fashionably festive. Cheers!

Just a bit of fun for the 20th of December! Five more sleeps 'til Santa.

Ten Years

You have probably all heard the news that Carine Roitfeld is leaving Vogue Paris in January, after ten years of spectacular work. Ten years of amazingly beautiful covers. So different every month and unique in their own special way. Here are my six favourites (I have just spent an hour choosing these, a very tough decision!):

Kate Moss, March 2004
Vanessa Paradis, November 2008
Carolyn Murphy, April 2005
Iris Strubegger, March 2009
Isabeli Fontana, November 2009
Laetitia Casta, December/ January 2010

Do you have a favourite here?

Thank God it's Friday! Have a great weekend!

Mustard, Black & Gold

'I got up this morning and my very first thought: What will I wear today? I jumped out of my king-sized bed and skipped over to my glorious walk in. As in, wardrobe, of course! Hmmmm, am I in the mood for trousers, what colour should I go for? I wanted to stand out, so my mustard Topshop Ponti dress was enough colour to brighten my day. I just had to pair this shift dress with my new,  mid-calf length Giuseppe Zanotti boots.

As for the jewels? My 3.1 Phillip Lim organza and leather necklace would look so fabulous just sitting on my mustard dress, I thought. I quickly, but carefully took it out of its packaging and draped it on my neck. Perfect! My Topshop (but doesn't it look more expensive?) buckled satchel was the finishing touch to this perfect gold, mustard and black outfit.

I sashayed out of my penthouse apartment and I and my outfit lived happily ever after......'

........And then, I woke up! My alter ego "Sahara" (as in, my alter ego, not the desert!) has the best life ever.

Two things that I now need to do:

1. Get my hands on that Topshop dress. Hello, Mustard!
2. Stop reading chic-lit books. Years of reading them and my brain is 99% fantasy and 1% reality.

Topshop Dress, £40
Topshop Satchel, £40
3.1 Phillip Lim Necklace, €228, Net-A-Porter
Giuseppe Zanotti Boots, €680, giuseppezanottidesign.com

Do you like Sahara's outfit?

Authentic

Once a supermodel, always a supermodel. This certainly applies to Christy Turlington. She has been in the fashion business for over 20 years and her magnetic charm does not seem to be fading. From Chanel to Louis Vuitton, this woman can do no wrong. She is a very beautiful clothes horse. And her latest editorial (Elle France, December 2010) portrays this.

Christy is one of the original supermodels back from the 80s and 90s. Who out of that group is your ultimate favourite? Whether it's Naomi, Claudia or indeed, Christy- cast your votes!

PS: Belgium was fantastic. Nothing better than escaping reality for a while.

A is for Ann. B is for Belgium.

Ann Demeulemeester, Autumn-Winter 2010. I am going to Belgium in a few hours and how perfect would it be if I owned one of these outfits to the walk the streets of Namur? Only a girl can dream.... But, I am going to Belgium, so I can't complain!

I probably won't be able to post for the rest of this week. I plan on staying away from technology for a few days and have fun in the Belgian snow. Don't worry, I will be back soon and I will be commenting on all your lovely blogs soon, also. Now, I really must go. Have I packed yet? Ha, of course not!

Falling Gifts

One of the things that I love about Christmas, are Christmas Windows. I was in Paris around this time last year and I just couldn't stop looking at the beautifully accessorised windows in Galeries Lafayette. Galeries Lafayette is the ultimate store for fashionista's, foodies etc, anyway, but those Christmas windows add that something special.  You just don't get that sort of grandeur where I come from.  Pure entertainment, that costs nothing!

Do you like Christmas windows, as mush as I do? Where have you seen the best decorated windows?

It's All About The Perry

Katy Perry just underwent the editorial make-over, or should I say make-under. But she keeps some of her sparkle, in the form of Swarovski crystals glued to her lips. I have to say, Katy Perry annoys me sometimes, but she looks very beautiful, chic and classic in the 15Oth anniversary of Harper's Bazaar. I just I love that cover so much and the editorial is just as fantastic. Just look at that all black leather Dior outfit on the right. Long may Katy reign!

Are you liking this cover and editorial, as I much as I am?

Watching those Pennies

In last nights post, I was complaining about my pale complexion, well, this is how pale I actually am! I went for the au naturel look today. Never fear, though. I accessorised with my heart sunnies, a vintage scarf, a belt and branches as my arms. So fashionable these days, don't you know? So, there I am chilling (literally) on top of my car.

Despite the snow, I battled my way into town, well, my Dad brought me in! First on my list was some HighBeam by Benefit. That was a success. Next on the list was a pair of DM (Dr Martens) boots. That was a major fail!

However, my disappointment ended when I spotted this dress. At just €19, I couldn't leave this beauty hanging. This dress will solve the 'what will I wear tonight' question. Even though I had my eye on a sequined dress from Topshop and a black jumpsuit from Warehouse, this tulle and crochet-esque number more than makes up for not getting the dress and jumpsuit. It has that Lanvin for H&M feel about it, at a fraction of the price. A gem, for sure!

Dress: Penneys
Belt: River Island

Firstly, what do you think of my au naturel look and secondly, do you like the dress?
