Don't worry, everything will be O'T'K.

Abbreviations are great, aren't they? They serve many purposes. Some good, some bad. Like when you are texting and you a). don't have enough credit or b). are too lazy to spell out the correct word, its okay, just abbreviate. However, despite these positives, a negative of abbreviations is the fact that they can confuse you.

'OMG, like WTF, HM (help me), I can't find ANYT (anything) to wear for 2MOR....nah, only JK (joking), I found SMTHG (something). LOL (LAUGH OUT LOUD!!)'. I would never actually abbreviate to this extent, because not only would I confuse the poor person on the other end of the phone, but I would confuse myself when reading back over the text.

I'll let you in on a secret....for quite some time, I genuinely thought that LOL meant 'Lots of Love' instead of 'Laugh out Loud'. I was so confused when seeing texts sent by friends, and I saw LOL stuck in the middle of a sentence. 'What in the name of God are they on about?'. When I found out the 'true' meaning of LOL, I felt quite stupid! The moral of this secret is the fact that I am crap at abbreviating and abbreviations themselves.

Anyway, there is a point to my jibber-jabbering! OTK! Know what that means? Over-the-knee. Over-the-knee socks to be precise. I have never worn this type of sock before (apart from when I HAD to wear them in school). But with the Irish summer acting like a moody person (as in, one day it is sunny, the next lashing rain & windy), I need something to cover my oh-so-white legs when it is horrible out there.

Tights won't do because despite the rain and so on, its actually humid and sticky. So, these socks are a perfect alternative! I would wear mine with a simple dress and ballet flats. I actually really, really want a pair now! They are a brilliant transition going from bare-leg to half-a-covered leg as we go into Autumn-Winter.

What way do you like to wear your OTK's? Or if you don't have any, will you be buying?

HAAA!! I adore this post. So funny! And I also am a HUGE fan of OTK socks. My favorite way to wear them is with an above-the-knee skirt or leggings and knee-high boots, with the socks kind of scrunchy at the top. Not only are they sexy that way (but not too), they are perfect for extra warmth in winter with skirts. And if you hate hosiery (like me) they're great for max coverage without the discomfort.

I totally have my sights set on OTK socks for the fall -- they can look so cute coming up over the top of knee-high boots!
I know what you mean about abbreviations... too many and the "convenience" of using them simply becomes a nuisance!

I love the socks however I think I'm too old too wear them. I'd feel like a school girl! On another note, my parents had to ask me what LOL stood for and my brother asked me the other day, "What does it mean when someone says 'I heart something'?" It means they love it. I thought that was pretty obvious but no ; )

I love my over the knee, but I don't really have a lot of time to wear them as it gets hot here in summer then all of the sudden it's just cold! lol. one of these days I will wear them!

For a long time I thought that LOL meant "Lots of Laughts", but I guess that's not soooo diferent of the original meaning! :)

I want some knee high socks for school.

Im bad at abbreviations too. I hate how everyone expects you to know every single one as well.

ilikestuff said...

I love thigh high socks! In fact, I'm wearing them in my last outfit post ;)

And my boyfriend has an annoying habit of abbreviating unconventional phrases. I can never figure what he's talking about.

And speaking of LOL, I LOL'd when I read you thought it meant "Lots of Love." Hehe.

ahh love the dior ruffle socks xx

Aww you are so precious! I only use lol - I have an iphone and I think its easier to read if the whole text is spelt out.

I love your blog, will definitely follow you!

I'm not that good at abbreviating....I always text full sentences ^^
And I love over-the-knees socks, I have never really found the perfect cute outfit for them (or they never stay in place ><) but I owe quite a few!
Also love your post below on that hairstyle, lately I've been dreaming to do my hair like that for like some kind of fancy occasion but I'm too clumsy..

The Dior grey ones are super cute. I love the detailing.
I wear my black OTK's a lot now, cos it's winter. I find they're a little too clingy for summer, though.
