And-They're-Off......

The smell of horse, the smell of smoke, the smell of grass, the smell of fried food, the smell of perfume, the sight of coiffed hair, and overdone make-up, hats, dresses, the nervous tension in the air...that's right it was Ascot Ladies Day today in Berkshire, England.

I love the races, even though I don't go often (more like never!), whats more, I love seeing all the overdone ladies vying for the coveted title of 'Best Dressed'. Never mind the dresses, today it was the hats that were most important. From the wild, weird and beautiful, they were all on show today and I wanted to show you some of these hats. Think Sarah Jessica Parker at the London Premiere of SATC2.

Snow Queen hat.

These hats are made out of Lego. Love them!

Heavy much?!

Eco-Friendly Chic.

Balloon...

Really like this too.

Very patriotic towards England.

Really elegant and pretty.

My favourite for sure!

I love this blatant lack of self-consciousness, its so refreshing and I find these images really inspiring. I will never get bored looking at some of the hats, they are amazing.

What do you think? Hats on or off?

Wow, the English really take wearing a hat to a new level! These are so fun! I wear hats but nothing too outlandish : )

The hats are amazing, but I ould never pull one off :)
Where does the tradition ome from, I mean someone must have been first?

I saw one somewhere else that looked like a flower bomb (real cut lilies, roses, ranunculus, every gorgeous expensive flower imaginable and HUGE) on an older woman. It was Gorgeous! But still outlandish. Miss Isablella Blow at times like this - she always had the BEST hat.

These are so great! I have to say the first one is the most interesting to me but I also elegant love the one on the girl with the asymmetrical dress! It would be so fun to dress up for this and parade around with a hat bigger than your body!

Hope you have a great weekend!

I think I like the most ridiculous one best- the HUGE one which you have labled 'Heavey Much?' I think it's wonderful how eccentric it is. The lego ones are such a fresh idea, too. :)
