Mugshot Monday-Change The Clothes

This is the type of outfit that I have been wearing for days on end. I really need to change the record. Or the clothes, for that matter. Those trousers are just so comfortable, though. My brother thought they were pajamas pants when he saw them on me. Not quite! But just as comfortable. Mugshot Monday is finally back after an absence.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend? I'm currently watching (a day late) all the glamour on the Oscars red carpet. Fairly gutted that Helena Bonham Carter didn't win an Oscar, I must say. Gotta love HBC.

Pucci

Would I be wrong in saying that Milan Fashion Week is the most glamorous? MFW have Gucci, Versace, Armani, D&G, Roberto Cavalli, Emilio Pucci amongst others showing their collections. They are Italian, darling! Nothing is done in halves. The materials used are luxurious, heavily embellished & embroidered. These clothes are not for the faint hearted.

Emilio Pucci's Autumn/Winter 2011 collection showed yesterday. This collection is the embodiment of what I said just above. Sequined and embellished to within an inch of the dress? Check. Feathers? Check. Velvet and gold embroidery? Check. If I was a sophisticated party girl, I would go for these Pucci designs. However, I am not a sophisticated party girl. I am the party girl who dances around her handbag, always brings flats, slurps cocktails like they are going out of fashion, etc. I don't think Pucci designer Peter Dundas would like to see me degrading one of his designs. Sounds like fun to me, though!

But wearing a Pucci dress, also sounds like fun. I wonder how I would be able to get my spare hand on that feathered mini dress? I say spare hand because there is a Mojito placed in the other. It is the weekend after all. Cheers!

Mademoiselle

Do you ever have laugh out loud moments when you are reading? I know, I do! And this is thanks to Stacey Duguid, Elle UK's executive fashion editor. Or, otherwise known as Mademoiselle. Her monthly column on the back page of Elle UK is a treat. Often, I skip to the end of the magazine, just to get my fix of her witty writing without going through the entire magazine first. Never boring, and always funny...kudos to you, Mademoiselle. Reading her blog on the Elle UK website has been getting me through this fairly dull week.

'I've stared internet dating. I'm working with a theory that dating as many men as possible is going to help me to meet 'THE ONE'. Plus I'm saying yes to every single invitation, yuk am I the Kimberly Stewart of fashion? Anyway, that aside, I'm exhausted. Dating several men at the same time and going out every night is not only causing sleep deprivation but a full on wardrobe crisis so I've decided to stock up on the LBD (little black dress). If in doubt in times of crisis, keep it simple....'

That is what I say to the mirror every morning. Well, no I don't, but I just like this little poem.  I'm sure Amanda Seyfried doesn't have to say that to her mirror. This Interview editorial (March, 2011) of her is fantastic. In my opinion, celebrity editorial of the year so far. Wearing beautiful designer dresses, this editorial has an ethereal feel about it. Could Seyfried be any more beautiful? Not jealous. Not jealous, at all.*

Burberry Autumn-Winter-Threads To Celebs

'It's like hearing a Christmas song when you are trying to work out in the gym.' That was my immediate thought when I saw the deliberate fake snow at the Burberry Prorsum show. It was unexpected, and it put me off balance. I had my fix of snow before Christmas, thank you very much. But anyway, that is neither here nor there. What is here and what was there today (as well as the snow) at the Burberry Autumn/Winter 2011 show were coats. Fur coats and my favourite trench coats. Some in neutral colours, some dark, some bright. All beautiful. Christopher Bailey sure knows how to design a trench. And a fierce heel, at that!

I am writing my ehhh, plea letter to him tonight. It will go something like this:

Dear Mr. Bailey,

Fantastic show, as always! Those trenches are a particular fancy of mine. Any chance of sending one over to a small town girl? I would be forever grateful.

Michael's Swagger

Today I want to wear something chic, sleek and something effortlessly cool. In other words, I want some of the Michael Kors Autumn/Winter 2011 collection in my wardrobe. I am all for mad tribal prints and bold colours, but sometimes, you just need to tone things down. Lets just call it sleek seductive-ness. Michael Kors, 30 years on. He definitely still has that New York swagger, don't you think?

Stripes, Missoni Style

Stripes, geometrics and abstract florals. These three (very often) colourful patterns are what the Missoni design house is all about. These patterns are instantly recognisable as a Missoni design. I am not fortunate enough to have anything lust worthy from Missoni, so I have to opt for high street copies. I know, not great, but if a gal wants fussy stripes in her wardrobe, well, then a gal (on a minimum wage pay cheque) will buy anything to fill the void in her wardrobe. Obviously when I say gal, I mean me!

Last year, H&M were doing some fantastic Missoni inspired pieces, so when I saw that jacket below, I grabbed it and ran to the tills. With the trousers, I was more hesitant. I hummed and hawed in the shop (Primark, of course!) for quite some time. In the end, I had to make the purchase. They are different, I love the pattern and I can't wait to wear them. Preferably, I would wear them with five inch heels and a cool leather jacket.

The material and pattern in my two high street copies wouldn't be a patch (obviously) on the material that Missoni use, but hey, you pay for what you get. What do you think of my Missoni-esque buys? In general, do you like the crazy stripes and geometrics that Missoni use?

Marc Loves Polka

Cruella's Assistant: Uh... what kind of sycophant would you like me to be?

This year, dahling's, we like polkas. Lots and lots of polkas. Immediately, when I saw the Marc Jacobs Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, I thought of 101 Dalmatians. If Cruella wasn't even a little bit of inspiration for MJ, well, I'll be damned. 'Cause this collection was polka & spot mad. Polka hats, polka tights, polka bags, polka dresses, polka trousers, polka skirts. And we all know, Cruella loved spots & polkas.

However, back to the real world, I just love looking at this collection. It is fun, sophisticated and demurely sexy. If you are not overly keen on polkas, then look at the lace dresses and the (almost) hidden polka tights. Those dresses are magnificent. I love the colour palette, Jacobs used and of course, the materials are beyond luxurious. The whole collection is polished to a polka!

But, that is just my (love of polka) opinion. What is yours? Do you like?

I must admit that I am terrified at how fast time goes by. Not only, is it scary that we are in the second month of February 2011, but New York Fashion Week has confirmed that time just flies. Officially, we haven't entered Spring, let alone Summer, yet we are fast forwarding two seasons and going straight to Autumn/ Winter 2011/2012. But, hey! This is nothing new. I don't know about you, but I am sick of the sight of big body covering capes and thick heavy coats. I want freedom in my clothes!

However, there was one Autumn/ Winter collection which wasn't suffocating. Enter, Jill Stuart. Enter sleeveless knits, pretty dresses with a touch of gold colour, fox and owl printed dresses. Of course, there was coats, but they looked light & easy to wear. Oh, and I spotted bum-bags. (I really must start wearing mine now! If you want to have a look at my bum-bag d.i.y effort, click here). The Irish weather may not allow for such 'skimpy-ness' in the winter, but I would definitely suffer the cold to wear that sleeve-less knit jumper, clinched by that gold belt, of course! Jill Stuart got it just right with this collection. Amen.

Buckle Up

I am very conscious of the amount of money I now spend in River Island. But, I just cannot help myself. Their clothes have really improved in terms of quality and design. And it is always their shoe section that hypnotises me when I first walk in to the store. These black buckled ankle boots are currently on my 'Will I buy, or will I just be thrifty and save the money list.' I am not really a thrifty kind of gal, so I feel that the next time I walk into River Island, I will walk out with these boots. A girl can never have too many boots, especially of the buckle variety! Hmmmm,.......

Nice Words In Pink

Smell: Cinnamon scented tea-lights. I couldn't resist spelling my initial out with them. Inspiration: Stellar Magazine (An Irish fashion magazine. A very good read!), Vogue UK & Elle UK. Colour, colour and more colour. The magazines speak for themselves. Beauty Product: High Beam by Benefit. How did my dull face cope before without this miracle product. I lash this stuff on daily. I am very loyal! High Beam, will you be my Valentine? Dress: The Summer clothes are hitting the shops, and I am taking advantage. This Primark dress is another example of their 'cheap, but cheerful' clothing motto. Now, all I need is the sun, so I can actually wear it. 

Motivation: 'Yes We Can'. Can we? I recently joined the gym after saying never again the last time. I need some motivation. Barack Obama: Sarah, you and your banjaxed legs can run for more than half an hour on the treadmill. Sarah: (In my mind) Yes we can, yes we can, yes we can, yes....we....can....! Nail polish: Rimmel. All of their dark shades. I do so love! Makes my nails look fierce, even if I don't feel it. Light Entertainment: Sex And The City & Des Bishop (comedian). SATC for the designer clothes eye-candy. Des Bishop for the many laugh out loud moments.

Yes, I am back! And, it is good to be back. Last week was quite a blah, blah week for me. I really did not want to impose my bad mood on you beautiful people. So, my fingers were banned from tap-tap-tapping, hence the lack of posts.

But, today I am back with Mugshot Monday. And the theme? Tattoos. I have always wanted to get a tattoo. However, I am still undecided what tattoo to get. I mean a tattoo is for life, not just for the weekend. Of course, there is laser, but I don't want to be going down that route. There will be no name tattoos (That is just asking for trouble. Angelina Jolie, Cheryl Cole, anyone?), instead I am thinking of a very fashionable, discreet tattoo.

While I think of the perfect permanent tattoo, I decided to play around with some fakes. Topshop fakes, to be more precise. A butterfly here, a bird there. All in a fake days work!
