A Plus.......

I am still moving forward, you will be happy to know! I was talking about what I would like to wear during Summer 2011 in this morning's post, but now, I am looking at what I would like to wear this Autumn. If you haven't got an absolute iota about what I am talk about, click HERE (hopefully you will understand then!).

However, before I move forward, I have to look back. Late last week, I went up to the A-Wear Press day, to have a look at some of the Autumn items, which will hit shops soon. This being my first press day, I was highly excited and I saw some fabulous clothes. Clearly, I was too excited to take some half decent photos...camera handy, I am NOT!

There was a 60's feel to some of the clothes, boho chic to others and surplus glamour to the rest. I picked out some of my favourites, that I would like to buy this Autumn. From Peter Pan Collars (Yes, please!), to Pussy-Bow Blouses and a Leopard Print coat, this is what I call moving forward and looking forward to Autumn.

What are you most looking forward to wearing during Autumn? Do you like any of my picks?

Day-Dreaming should be banned!

If there is one thing that I am really, very good at, it is looking back on my life. By looking back, I mean, 'well, this time last year, I was in Nice' compared to this time this year, where I'm still in my pj's, still in bed. Just things like that! But its things like that, which wreck your head or in my case, ehhh.... my head.

So, from now on, I am only ever going to look forward because that is all that matters, the future, right? However, I do have to look back for just a moment. Back to the 26th of August 2010, when Zeynep Tosun showed her Spring/ Summer 2011 collection at Istanbul Fashion Week.

Now, I can move forward. Forget about our looming Autumn/ Winter season and look further afield. And if I was a time traveller, I would like to see myself next Summer wearing a few of Tosun's creations, sipping some sort of cocktail (preferably alcoholic, but I wouldn't discriminate otherwise), lounging on something luxurious and the something luxurious would be placed somewhere luxurious, like Nice, perhaps! Right, moving on.

I just adore this collection. Its so floaty, easy-to-wear, chic, yet glamourous. The colours of this collection are perfection. Look at the light/ powder blue dress. As well as having a hard to get colour, its midi length. If you didn't want to show the legs, just throw on some va-va-va-va voluminous trousers. Or if you wanted to show a bit of leg and be daring in red, just go for that mini.Or if you want something a little bit more daring, go for the black.

What do you think of this Spring/ Summer 2011 collection?

Right, I'm moving on! Have to go look for a job. I'm sure Tosun's creations don't come too cheap. And I already know that Nice doesn't come cheap, at all!

And my Winner is......

I cannot tell you how refreshing it was to take a few days away from the laptop and to come back on this Monday morning to see such beautiful gowns. Gowns that were worn for the Emmy Awards last night.

I promised myself that I would only pick one, maybe two dresses which were my favourites, but as you can see, that was not to be! I picked four.

I just love the type of dress that January Jones and Anna Paquin were wearing. Short cut at the front and then it just flows behind. Magical. The detailing on Anna Paquin's Alexander McQueen dress is beautiful at the collar and the shoulder area. She just looks fierce (in a good way, obviously!).

Emily Blunt is dreamy in Christian Dior. This dress colour would be tricky to pull off, but because of Emily's pale skin tone, she pulls it off with top marks. What can I say about Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera? A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Capital letters.

My number one favourite out of my already favourite four, would have to be January Jones in Versace. I love everything about this dress-the colour, the cut, the flow of the dress. It is just perfect!

Who was your favourite in general last night at the Emmy's?

Stripped.

I am loving these pictures of Darya Novitskaya.

'....So here it is
no hype, no gloss, no pretense
Just me
Stripped.'

If the fashion World ever gets too glitzy or too gaudy for your liking, all you will have to do is look at these photos and be brought back down to earth.

To me these pictures are just so natural, due to the freckles and curly hair. I love my freckles, my sister hates hers!!

What do you think of the pictures? And do you have freckles/ do you like them?

Its Friday....again! Time is going by so fast, it is making me sick (literally speaking, not physically)!!
Anyway, have a great weekend.

Snap Happy? More like Belt-Batty!

I must admit, I haven't been the World's biggest fan of waist belts, over the past few years. Maybe, it was due to a fashion programme I used to watch and the ehhhhh, fashion ''guru'' was way too belt-batty. By belt batty, I mean he used a belt to 'cinch in the waist' on every single outfit! I quickly grew tired of his obvious love of them!

However, I am really starting to like these belts. And two waist belts in particular. The large (ish), studded belt and the skinny, plain belt (tied just like Blake's, of course!).

Are you into these belts? Which one do you prefer?

1.  Suede Stude Belt, £35, Topshop
2. Ultra Skinny Plaited Belt, €21, Warehouse
3. Double Buckle Stud Front Belt, €33, Warehouse
4. Vintage leather belt, £15, Topshop
5. Wide Stud & Eyelet Belt, €50, Warehouse

I don't care how.... I want it NOW!

The opening show of the Rosemount Sydney Fashion Festival was yesterday. Beautiful, beautiful gowns and dresses were on display. But it was this Alex perry number that got me thinking......

This dress would look perfect on two singers.... Katy Perry and Florence Welch (Florence & the Machine). I feel they would both go for this type of dress also. I mean, who wouldn't?! But who will get to it first? Now, that is the question.

I honestly think both singers would rock this dress, what do you think?

Just a bit of fun on a Tuesday, people! Have a great day!

Coco the Clown!

I am crap at the whole make-up thing. Once I have a bit of concealer, powder, blush and mascara, I am happy. A bit of eye-liner on a night out and hey presto, I'm all glammed up. I have a few lipglossey things as well, but I'm more in favour of carmex. And if I really want to push the boat out or just look like a fool, I veer towards the fake eyelashes. And, I have mentioned before, fake eyelashes do not treat me well. If you want to know why, read HERE.

Yes, they are the sad occupants of my make-up bag. Yesterday evening, I let my 12 year old sister paint my face....no, that is wrong, I only let her do my eyes. The only colours she had in her possession were a light pink and brown eye-shadow. I am a pale girl and proud to be it, but light pink and brown do NOT suit me, in terms of eye-shadow. I looked like Coco the Clown. It wasn't a success, obviously!

However, here are two pictures of make-up gone right, as opposed to make-up gone oh-so-wrong. Lara Stone for W magazine (September) with blue/ green eyeshadow, bleached eyebrows & hair, pale face. If there was any justice, she should look like a happy Coco the Clown, but she does not. She looks amazing in this make-up look.

Clearly, I am in a make-up rut. Just another one to add to the list. I won't be bleaching my brows, even if that is the ''in'' thing to do at the moment. So, the only thing for it is to buy some blue eye-shadow. I can hear an Abba song coming on. Because whenever I think of blue eyeshadow, I think of the two lady singers in Abba.

Money, money, money. Must be funny, in the rich man's World.
Blue-y, blue-y, blue-y. Must be funny, in the eye-shadow World.

I fear this blue eye-shadow thing will NOT be a success. Maybe, I will be better off with my few bits of 'safe' make-up. Hmmmmmmmm.....

Anyway, enough about my less than desirable make-up story. What do you think of this 'Color Me Beautiful' editorial? Do you like the make-up? Oh and will you be bleaching your brows any time soon?

Snug like a Bug in a Stella Mc.

If I could only pick one jumper to have in my wardrobe this Autumn/ Winter, it would be this Stella McCartney piece. Ehhh...wishful thinking on a Saturday, it is. That is all!

Hope your weekend is being used productively, unlike mine!

One third of an Angel.

Drew Barrymore is such a fantastic actress, I have always loved her in films. Just wanted to get that out of the way!

Anyway, her trip to London to promote 'Going the Distance' has seen her up her fashion game. And I am really liking the outfits she has been wearing, not to mention her tousled hair. She has some great key pieces, that I only wish were in my wardrobe also!

Its the accessories and jackets, I feel that have been giving her outfits that extra edge. For example the leather jacket (the last outfit), her bullet belt (second last outfit) and her Balmain Belt she wore with an Alexander McQueen dress for the actual premiere of the film.

What do you think of Drew's London looks? Yay or Nay?

Its Friday! As I am typing, my sister is making chocolate brownies with hazelnuts. Seriously, they are just so delicious!!! (Can you see by my overuse of exclamation points, that I am highly excited about my chocolate fix?!).

Have a great weekend!

Way too cool on a Thursday!

There are certain things that I truly am loving on this Thursday.

1. The first, that is way too cool for school, is Blake Lively's cover shot for the September issue of Interview. I barely even recognised her. I love the dramatic make-up and the fierce poses. If you haven't looked at the editorial, sure ye might as well do so Here. Its fantastic!

2. Has anyone seen Coco Rocha's absolutely stunning Zac Posen wedding dress, she wore when she got married in June? The picture was only released yesterday via twitter. Like, wow! Where can I get one of them for myself?

3. New look always do some great collaborations with designers. Giles Deacon, who has been collaborating with New Look for some time now, has designed some great pieces for his latest Gold Collection. Giles Deacon on a budget? Not too shabby for this too cool for school Thursday! I just love that dress pictured, its heart shaped neckline is too irresistible not to love. Well, that is just me. What do you think? Available to buy on Monday.

4. Chanel tattoos....what can I say? Despite being released in January/ February of this year, they are still fabulous. And they would great with that Giles/ New Look dress. However at $75, these tattoos really are too cool for me!

So, there you go. My too cool for school, but absolutely fabulous things that I am loving in the Fashion World today.

What do you think? What are you loving at the moment?

Hats Off, Hats On?

Going to keep this short & sweet today....

I used to be self-conscious about wearing hats,
when I was younger.
I'm over that though!
And with Autumn-Winter soon to be here,
hats, hopefully will play a big part in my life.

Hats that make my head warm, I do so love!
I like a hat to protect me against the forces....
the weather, that is.

Will you be partaking in some Autumn-Winter hat fun?
Let me know!
Have a Wonderful Wednesday!!

Dolly Birds in a Dolls House.

When I saw this editorial for Hint Magazine (September Issue), I couldn't help reminiscing back to my English class in school. One of the plays that we covered was 'A Dolls House', written by Henrik Ibsen from Norway. The play is all about a husband 'Torvald' and his ''dolly'' wife 'Nora', who eventually breaks free from his ehhhh... ''manly'' grip.

I personally find this editorial a symbol of that play, I could be wrong though.... However, given that the editorial is called 'Dolly Birds', I could be close. Ok, enough of the play that was written in 1879 (a completely different World to the one we live in now...?).

Another thing that attracted me to this editorial was the oversized eyelashes. I LOVE fake eyelashes, I don't really know why? Its not like I wear them often, but when I do, I feel quite glamourous. However, when I look in the mirror, that glamourous feeling is gone when I see them up near my eyebrows, as opposed to my eyelashes. Fake eyelashes don't treat me well (just like Torvald didn't treat Nora well), but hey, like a fool I still love them!

And of course, the clothes further enticed me to post about this editorial. Look at the coat on the right hand side in the first picture! Look at the sweater dress on the right hand side in the third picture! Look at the blouse on the left hand side in the last picture! I truly do love!

So, what do you think about this editorial? Is it as symbolic for you, as it is for me?

Oh and the quotes you see, are quotes from the play. Some said by Nora, some by Torvald.

Oh, and by the way, thanks so much for all the tips on how to upload photos. Appreciate it! Have a great Tuesday!

Curly Haired Angel, Straight Haired Devil?

WARNING: I am a repeat sandal offender...sorry! I just love my fringed sandals, even though they are well battered by now. Anyway.....

On to something I wore last Wednesday. Despite buying this skirt over a year ago, this was the first time I ever wore it! The waist has always been a bit too big, and of course, I kept saying I would bring it to a dressmaker to fix it, but surprise, surprise I never did. So, instead I pinned it together. We are coming out of a recession after all!

Skirt: Tommy Hilfiger

T-shirt: Primark
Necklace: Claires Accessories
Sunglasses: New Look
Clutch: Warehouse

The weather yesterday was amazing, so hot, with a blue, blue sky. Only a dress with an open back would do in my instance. Paired with my trusty fringed sandals, I just let the dress do all the talking!

Dress: Random shop in Waterford
Love Necklace: River Island

One question: Curly or straight(ish) hair? I love my curly hair, but it doesn't last as long as when it is straight. After a few days, it resembles a not very pruned hedge!!

Have a great Monday everybody.

Also, if you can't see all of the pictures, would you mind just saying something?:) Thank you! Actually, how does everyone else upload their pictures?
